The story

In "Power Play", the corridors of a state prison become the stage for an intense battle of wills, size and power. From the story

The door whooshed shut and he suddenly felt a wave of claustrophobia. The lights dimmed then turned red and a klaxon sounded.
He felt a series of continuous electromagnetic pulses wash over his large frame and his head began to spin. He squeezed his eyes shut and tried to take slow, deep breaths to deal with the accompanying queasiness.
The coldness of the metal walls dissipated and for a moment he laughingly thought they had warmed up.
It felt like several minutes before the pulses ceased and the klaxon faded and the lights returned to normal. He didn't want to open his eyes. … If he kept them closed, he could stave off the reality of his new situation for a little longer.
