Microphilia stories: life in the palm of his hand

Three inches tall, on a bedside table, with a giant stirring under the duvet. That is where microphilia lives: the thrill of being tiny in a world built for bigger men. Pockets become prisons, desks become continents and a palm can be a cage or a cradle, depending on whose hand it is.

These tiny man stories come as illustrated Shrink Files, Fetish Audio, comics, videos and Shrink Files 3D games. Some tinies explore, some escape, and some simply settle in and enjoy the view.

How small, and how kept

The gap is the fantasy. At six inches a pocket-sized man can still argue back; at three inches he is a pet; past that he is a speck you need a magnifying glass to find. Then there is how he is kept. Some tinies are treasured, carried everywhere and protected like something precious: Shrink Files Issue 34: Tiny Soldier, Big Love turns a private into a three-inch man and his corporal into his giant protector. Others are possessions, posed on desks and shown off to friends. Others are simply lost, trying to survive a kitchen floor while the giants carry on above them.

Perspective changes everything too. Most microphilia stories put you in the tiny man's shoes, looking up. Fetish Audio 32: Your Tiny Pet flips it round: the tiny man tells the story, and you are his giant. And then there are tinies on the move. In Shrink Files Issue 36: Tiny Travellers, budget cuts shrink a basketball team for the flight home, and captain Jason finds himself powerless and at the mercy of the rival team's giants. Holidays, it turns out, are far more interesting at hand-luggage size.

Tiny men and their neighbours

Tiny men only exist because someone else is bigger, which makes this the other half of giants and macrophilia. Together they are gay G/T, and size difference is the engine that drives every scene. If you want to watch the journey down rather than start at the bottom, head for shrinking. If being tiny means being owned, domination and living dolls are next door.

Where to go next

Travel is a natural setting for small men: The Tiny Traveller: Why Shrinking Fantasies Love a Holiday is all about the suitcase, and Navigating Intimacy with Extreme Height Differences takes the size gap seriously. For a whole world at the wrong scale, try Shrink Files Issue 20: Micro World, in which a scientist becomes a godlike giant until one tiny man stirs strange new desires.

Questions

What is microphilia?
Microphilia is an erotic interest in tiny people, and here specifically tiny men: being one, keeping one, or watching one navigate a world that is suddenly far too big. It is the mirror image of macrophilia, and the two usually turn up together. The mood ranges from tender and protective to helpless and kept, and all of it is fiction.
Is microphilia the same as a shrinking fetish?
Not quite. A shrinking fetish is about the process: the inches disappearing, the clothes getting bigger, the power slipping away. Microphilia is about the state of being tiny, however you got there. Plenty of tiny man stories start with a shrinking, and plenty of shrinking stories end with a tiny man, so most fans happily enjoy both.
What does G/T mean?
G/T is short for giant/tiny, the community name for stories built on extreme size difference. In gay G/T both characters are men, and the dynamic can be anything from gentle and protective to dominant and teasing. This page focuses on the tiny side of the equation; the giant side has its own page under macrophilia.
Are the characters adults?
Yes. Tiny is about size, never age. Every character on ShrinkingMen is an adult man over 18, however small he gets, and every story, recording, comic and game is fiction made for grown men. Three inches tall still means a grown man with opinions, a temper and very strong views about being put in a pocket.
